Overview

What happens, hour by hour.

On Guatemala's south coast, in Escuintla, El Paredón reveals a different side of the country: black volcanic-sand beaches, mangroves, surf and communities that grew up beside the ocean. This is a laid-back, authentic Guatemala, shaped by the rhythm of the sea.

This full-day adventure blends nature, local culture and free time by the water. You'll navigate the mangrove channels, one of the coast's most valuable ecosystems, a refuge for local and migratory birds and a natural barrier that protects the shoreline.

Between the boat tour, a seafood lunch, time on the beach and an optional surf lesson, the day connects you with a unique ecosystem and with the life of the coastal communities of Guatemala's Pacific.
