In seven days you cover the essentials: from colonial Antigua to Lake Atitlán, from ancient Maya ceremonial centers to the great Chichicastenango market, always beneath the chain of volcanoes that guards the highlands.

The journey begins in Antigua Guatemala, a UNESCO World Heritage city of cobblestone streets, colonial churches and the Agua, Fuego and Acatenango volcanoes. From there it descends to the coffee culture of its slopes, takes in the valley from mountain lookouts, and continues to Iximché, the former capital of the Kaqchikel kingdom, before reaching Lake Atitlán, ringed by Tz'utujil and Kaqchikel villages that keep their language and their crafts alive.

On the lake you share time with families who keep the backstrap loom, natural dyes, artisanal cacao and the community projects of San Juan La Laguna and Santiago Atitlán alive. The route culminates in Chichicastenango, where the copal smoke at the Santo Tomás church, the market textiles and the color-painted cemetery sum up the syncretism of the Guatemalan highlands.

A local coordinator, assigned once your booking is confirmed, holds the inter-region transfers and the encounters with each host in the network. On the third day you choose your pace: the included option — the lookouts and landscapes of Antigua — or, if you want adventure, a climb up the Pacaya volcano (moderate difficulty) or an expedition to Acatenango facing the Fuego volcano (strenuous).
