We set off toward the highlands, crossing from the colonial region into the landscapes of the western highlands.

Arrival in Panajachel
The lake's main gateway: your first view of Atitlán and its volcanoes, with a cultural and natural introduction to the region.

You sail Lago de Atitlán among the three volcanoes, the lakeside communities and the local fishermen.

Santiago Atitlán
You discover Tz'utujil Maya identity at the Iglesia de Santiago Apóstol and before the Rilaj Mam (Maximón), a spiritual expression unique to Guatemala.

On to San Juan La Laguna
Back on the boat to cross to the next village on the lake.

San Juan La Laguna
You visit the women weavers' workshops — textiles, Maya designs and natural dyes — and the local production of coffee, artisanal chocolate and honey.

A pause to enjoy the local cuisine of the region.

Mirador Kaqasiiwaan
A panoramic viewpoint over the lake, the volcanoes and the villages along its shores (weather permitting).

Boat back to Panajachel
One last sail across the lake, returning to your starting point.

Return to Antigua Guatemala by road
We head back across the highlands toward the colonial city.

Arrival in Antigua Guatemala
You arrive back in Antigua between 6:00 and 7:00 pm, closing out the day.
